Zhong Lanqing (1868-1936) was the 69th-generation descendant of Zhong Zilu, a great disciple of Confucius. Influenced by the Zhong family's cultural heritage from a young age, he thoroughly read the Four Books and Five Classics and pursued the imperial examinations. Influenced by the rich silk culture of his hometown, Shengze, he developed a special affinity for silk. Later, due to his family's financial difficulties, Zhong Lanqing, at the urging of relatives and friends, abandoned his studies and pursued a career in business. At the age of 19, he became an apprentice in his uncle's silk shop. With his solid cultural foundation, intelligence, eagerness to learn, and diligent study, he quickly became a valuable assistant to his uncle. Five years later, he left his uncle's shop and opened his own shop, Yifenghao Silk Shop, in Shengze.
Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, the silk industry in Shengze has flourished, with looms ringing in every household throughout the night. By the late Qing Dynasty, the silk industry reached an unprecedented peak, with the number of looms and silk production leading the region, earning it the title of China's Silk Capital. Seizing the opportunity, Zhong Lanqing set up a silk loom at home while running a silk shop, ushering in an era of "shop in front, workshop in back." At the 1915 Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce's National Products Exhibition, a silk scarf presented by the Zhong Lanqing family won first prize. Since then, "Zhong Lanqing" has become a highly influential brand in the silk industry.
In April 2019, he entered the field of Hanfu (Chinese traditional attire), beginning his exploration of this traditional attire with thousands of years of history. In-depth research encompassed materials, patterns, and history. While inheriting traditional forms, he combined new materials, technologies, and trends to establish the "Lanqing Silk Shop" brand for traditional clothing fabrics, the "Qing's Wardrobe" brand for traditional clothing, and the "Hahan Family" brand for Han-inspired clothing. His efforts have fostered the preservation and development of traditional Han clothing, bringing Hanfu to the world and into the future
